Electoral Commission releases pink sheets of 2020 presidential polls

The Electoral Commission has released the pink sheets from the various collation centres in the country used in declaring Nana Addo as the winner for the just ended presidential elections held on December 7, 2020.

The EC on Wednesday, December 16, in its quest to be transparent and accountable to the people, released all sixteen sheets from the regions as they contain the figures of votes accumulated by the twelve candidates presidential candidates.

Nana Akufo-Addo polled 6,730,413, representing 51.595% while John Mahama garnered 6, 214, 889 representing 47.366% in the 8th election in the 4th Republic that had a dozen candidates.

Although the EC has officially made a declaration, the opposition NDC led by its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama claims to have won the elections and therefore have rubbished the results calling for an independent audit.

In an interview with the VOA, John Mahama said he will gladly concede defeat if the result of the audit identifies him as the loser in the elections.

He added that “in the runoff to the elections there were various flaws in the process and we [NDC] kept drawing the attention of the Commission to them and it’s like the EC was adamant to our call.

“With the incompetence, the EC has shown, it will be useful for us to do a forensic audit of the EC’s own systems and numbers to come to what the final number from the EC is.
