In an appointment letter sighted by, the broadcaster who works with the Despite Media group is to use his influence to raise funds to support the government’s efforts at fighting the pandemic.

The Board of Trustees, chaired by former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, receives contributions and donations from the public to assist in the welfare of the needy and the vulnerable.

Other members of the Board are Archbishop Justice Ofei Akrofi, Mr. Jude Kofi Bucknor, Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie, Mrs Elsie Addo-Awadzie, Dr. Ernest Ofori-Sarpong, Dr Tanko, and Collins Asare.

Mr Aggrey’s employers serve on the Independent COVID-19 Trust Fund Board.

His appointment was reportedly after a meeting between his employers and the Board

It is unclear the demands of the position and whether the ambassadorial job comes with remuneration.

The inauguration of the Board was inspired by donations from organisations and individuals, with others wanting to find out how they can also contribute something towards the management of the coronavirus outbreak in Ghana.

At the inauguration ceremony, President Akufo-Addo said the best way to pool those resources was to establish a public trust, so that the contributions do not get mixed up with Government money to cause problems.

“A public trust was needed to be managed by an independent body of trustees so that people will see that these monies are being properly accounted for and properly deployed,” he said.
