Three arrested for police recruitment scam in the Volta Region

Three young men in the Volta Region have been arrested for allegedly indulging in recruitment fraud in the ongoing security services recruitment.

On September 14, 2021, the Volta Regional Police Command in Akatsi detained three people: Amenya Bernard, 18, Godsway Adzika, 21, and Godson Wemegah, also 21.

This comes after a phony Facebook post purporting to be from the Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr. Edward Oduro Kwanteg, offering to help potential Ghana Police Service recruits.

According to a StarrFM report, preliminary police investigations found that numerous victims have paid varying quantities of money to the fraudsters in the hopes of being favored in the ongoing scheme.

The statement, written by DSP Effia Tenge, Head of Public Affairs at the Volta Regional Police Command, warned the public not to fall for any of the scams because the command is not responsible for them.

“The command wishes to state that it is not responsible for recruiting persons into the service, as such, desperate applicants should be wary of protocol allocations being offered all over the place.”
