Takoradi woman now a suspect over alleged fake pregnancy and kidnapping

The intriguing circumstances surrounding the reappearance of Josephine Panyin Mensah, the supposed pregnant woman who was purportedly kidnapped in Takoradi around two weeks ago, have been revealed through police investigations.

According to the police, their investigations indicate that the alleged victim may have collaborated with others to conceal her whereabouts.

It went on to say that three people have been arrested so far on conspiracy charges and are being questioned further.

According to the report, the alleged victim, who is now a suspect, cited the European Hospital in Takoradi as the location of her antenatal checks and assessments during her interrogation.

“Medical records at the facility suggest that the lady visited the hospital without pregnancy somewhere in October last year,” a statement from the Police noted.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Josephine had been found in Axim, but without her baby bulge, which she said had been seized by her kidnappers, according to eyewitnesses.

She was taken to the Axim Government Hospital, but in an odd turn of events, the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, denied the woman’s claim of pregnancy and captivity.

However, the woman’s husband and some locals said she was pregnant, leaving many people with mixed sentiments about the issue.
