The government of Ghana has finally completed the takeover of telecommunications giant, AirtelTigo.
This was revealed in a recent statement released by Bharti Airtel and the statement indicated that it has successfully done all regulatory filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The statement reads;
“This is in further to our announcement dated October 27, 2020, and April 16, 2021, regarding Government of Ghana’s takeover of ownership of Airtel/Tigo Joint Venture. We wish to update that the transaction has been completed and 100% shares of Airtel Tigo have been transferred to the Government of Ghana.”
This latest development ensures that AirtelTigo is now a state-owned entity of the Government of Ghana.
The state now owns 100% of the shares of the telecommunications giant including all customers, assets, and liabilities.
